Hi Omeara 29 / others
Over the past months we have heard from MLS that they are unaware of any other claimant to Mile 72 .... it's just a back-log of work at the Mines Department holding up the renewal .... that a committee of some 28 Department Members has to OK a renewal & only meets about once every 2 months .... even if you're on the agenda, time might run out that meeting before you're considered & you get carried over to the next meeting ....
MLS has also been told that it is free to carry on exploration whilst the process to renewal runs it's course .... MLS has chosen not to carry on with exploration ....
It now transpires that there has been another Claimant & he purportedly has "high connections" - & perhaps the "ear" of even just one Committee member to hold things up ....
Does he have a legitimate claim? Or is he just being opportunistic - believing MLS is 'on to something good' at Mile 72? He feels sufficiently hopeful to serve a writ on MLS, tenement broker Brian Moore, & the Namibian Mines Department for issuing MLS the tenement originally.
One surmises that the Mines Department is holding back on re-issueing the tenement until this mess, which is not of their making, is sorted out between the Parties, or in court.
Thus MLS has thought it not prudent to continue with exploration .... & perhaps MLS reckons that it has a good U prospect at Mile 72 & doesn't want to progress exploration & make others even more determined to "take it".
Prior settlement doesn't seem to be happening. If the matter proceeds to Court this Friday (I think Friday is the day), & is (hopefully) thrown out, & if the tenement renewal date is not brought forward, then MLS still has > a year to explore / expend the required $, which can readily be gainfully accomplished. If the matter looks complicated & is carried over to a future date for a hearing .... who knows when this will be ..... hopefully within a couple of months. Still time for MLS to achieve things on the tenement.
If MLS loses & then appeals ..... months? years?
If it goes to appeal (by either Party), presumably the tenement is "locked up". Though, when the current 2 year renewal period expires, what happens then?
Omeara 29, you have given us some detail of the Namibian tenement renewal system. Your thoughts .... Can you check on who owned Mile 72 before it was originally transferred to MLS?
