    AUSTRALIAN STOCK EXCHANGE ANNOUNCEMENT
EXPLORATION UPDATE – MARATHON SOUTH DRILLING
    22nd July 2005
Tasman Resources wishes to notify that the forthcoming drilling programme at its exciting Marathon
South prospect will commence late next week.
Tasman’s drilling contractor has advised that the recent delays in commencing Tasman’s drilling
programme are due to significant difficulties in obtaining critical spare parts. These parts have now been
sourced and the rig will be mobilising to Marathon South next Wednesday, and the drilling company
will make best endeavours to depart before this time. Drilling of the two Priority 1 SA Government
PACE 2 supported holes will begin immediately the rig is on site.
As previously announced, Tasman’s 100% owned Marathon South Prospect is located 24 km north east
of Olympic Dam in South Australia (see Figure 1).
Tasman completed the first drill hole into the prospect MS1 in November 2004. The hole was completed
at 830m after intersecting 270m of variably hematite-silica-albite-sericite-carbonate altered breccias,
containing significant igneous components (mainly dykes, igneous clasts and probable tuffs). The
breccias show strong similarities with rocks comprising the nearby Olympic Dam deposit. However,
although weakly mineralised, no significant base metal, gold or uranium values were obtained in MS1.
Detailed gravity surveying by Tasman has outlined the overall dimensions of the Marathon South
system (see Figure 2) and facilitated the placement of follow-up drill holes to MS1.
Tasman believes it may have discovered a large volcanic breccia system that could host a substantial
copper-gold±uranium deposits (see Figures 3, 4 and 5). As at Olympic Dam, the size and complexity of
such systems require the drilling of a number of relatively deep holes to assess adequately the potential
    of the system.
The planned exploration programme will initially comprise four holes, each between 700m and 850m
    deep (Figure 2).
It is estimated that the drilling of each of these holes will take approximately 14 to 21 days depending
on ground conditions and the final depth of the holes. Transport of the core to Adelaide, core cutting and
analysis are expected to take a further four weeks. Hence, for each hole it will take six to eight weeks to
receive final results. The entire drilling programme will last for two to three months with final drill
    results expected by mid-October 2005.
