Now to your question, nasa,
The Marketing Plan.
Think back to the comments by Warwick Grigor in his address to shareholders. This team don't do hyperbole or hype. They have been heads down beavering away for the last 18 months getting a great land-holding, working with land-owners to gain access, working with government department to gain environmental, mining and blasting licences, importing their own drill, training up 60 local employees, (only 1 employee is not a Sri Lankan), working with universities, local authorities and communities, identifying over 220 old workings, drilling and prioritising their mining development plan, etc, etc.
Not a bad situation...
Or as you would say, nasa. in stealth mode ticking all the boxes to prepare for production.
And most of the graphite/graphene "industry" has hardly noticed them.
Until now.
Now it's time to make some noise.
Interest is growing apace, and this was very apparent at the last presentation in Santa Clara, just last week.
They were noticed, and there is now a need to engage a marketing specialist, and possibly work with a large international commodities trading establishment which is looking to enter the graphene business. (one of the few materials they are not offering at present.
At the booth FGR was approached by many, including some big operators leading the move to commercialisation of graphene .
Plenty want samples to see if FGR's product will work for them. Not all the samples are free, some is paid for.
So the board is focussed right now on marketing.
Whether in-house, or through brokers, or a mix, is all on the table. No decision as of yesterday, but Craig intimated they have had some discussions with "very interesting people."
Warwick Grigor emphasised that potential customers span a vast range of potential applications, and a variety of different end products.
Each customers interest in developing a business model is different, some just want to purchase the product outright, some want to look at ways of developing a longer term partnership, with payment possibly based on royalties on the final product sale price.
Lots of opportunities of exponential growth in production and return over the very long term !!!
Don't expect offtake agreements to be announced. Most customers don't want their competition knowing what they are up to, or where they are sourcing their graphite/graphene.
WG suggested that some of the higher value material that could be used for special applications may be stockpiled awaiting exclusive bulk deals.
Pricing will also vary widely and not be publicised - also for commercial reasons,
The limited resource of this special material, and the key tenement holdings, gives FGR all sorts of benefits over time.
When I asked Craig before the meeting whether they intended to become a member of InvestorIntel, or a sponsor of the digital Graphene Info newsletter, he was undecided. The board has been considering joining the World Graphene Council (not sure if that's the correct title), but is very wary of the bona fides of several current members and unsure of it's long term credibility.
But what is clear is that FGR is entering centre stage, has already been noticed by several big players, and with much more focus and resource directed at marketing by the board, we can expect some announcements over coming weeks and months that should rerate the MC significantly
As WG stated:
It's time to make some noise !!
