Probably about time some people did a bit of research about what the AMP really is rather than this 'shuffling paper' stuf.

The strength of the AMP is its 1700 to 1800 advisors. Despite its poor track record in investment return the AMP has always (until now at least) been able to maintain its role as the gorilla of Australian funds management because of the sheer dedication of its sales force.

This dedication remains even now becuase of one simple thing. The value contained within the agents business and 'guarenteed' (I use the word advisedly) by the AMP through its 'buyer of last resort' facility.

Those who forecast mass defection by the AMP sales force clearly have very little idea about what motivates the Agency network and the ties that bind.

Don't underestimate just how much the agents themselves have on the line and how important it is to them to see this company recover.

It goes without saying then that the value those who aspire to success in Wealth management in Australia see in the AMP cannot really be poached. Certainly not in the short term.

It needs to be bought. Intact.

And there is only one on offer.
