The comments in the report about the farmout of TP15 were interesting ... especially the comment that there were numerous interested parties. If there were only one then that would cause for concern.
The thing that is the most irritating is the multilevels of bureaucratic hurdles that they are having to jump through and appease to get the permits to do the 3D seismic.
The amount of time and resources that the environmental impact investigations are requiring needs investigation. I am not saying that care or due diligence should not be taken, but sometimes repeating the same investigation time and time again, because someone new wants their name on the paper becomes prohibitive in time and resource cost.
There should be departments of government who can assist companies to address these concerns and to advise them as to the actions that they need to take to protect the environment, not just requiring companies to continue to submit reports for someone to have another brainstorm of an idea that requires another time and financially costly investigation. A Federal environmental group and a state environmental group should be co-ordinated with the requirements and the levels of Bio-security required. Not a duplicated system with two separate standards. The investigating officers need to be experienced operators not junior university graduates with limited field experience.
Sorry about the rant ........ I would just like to have the 3D approvals finalised as that is the next positive step to the drilling of A3.
