re: annual report.....meerkat well, in the past I've come across many articles which have described how 'clever' and adaptable the flu virus is, with the conclusion that it is unlikely that anyone could ever come up with any broad spectrum antiviral likely to deliver the knock out blow to influenza. Many squillions have been formerly spent on hunting down the answer to influenza, but so far there's nothing that kills it stone dead - Tamiflu and Relenza don't do it either.
