Actually SER have had a lot of dud results plus uncommercial drilling
I only know of one successful drill - for gas in SA - it must be over ten years ago they found a small commercial gas field and then sold it to fund drilling for minerals.
SER however have retained the "Energy" part of their name - this as I understand it to retain all the tax losses from drilling for oil and gas. If SER dropped "energy" then I think they also forego that part of tax losses to. ironically SER do not need to offset any gains with past tax losses though.
Trust this clarifies the situation re dud drilling by SER
