Damien Murphy's report in The Age online about the aftermath of Margaret Whitlam's death this morning highlights one of the concerns that many people have about Tony Abbott.
The death of one of our national treasures, a lady bigger than life itself & a long time champion of human decency provided Tony Abbott with an opportunity to be gracious & dignified. He categorically FAILED that simple test.
Abbott could have at least made no comment. But oh NO, not Abbott.
Any chance for a cheap political shot & he can't help himself. Small wonder he is so disliked throughout Australia - less liked than a very unpopular PM!
If the Whitlam family decides to accept a state funeral Abbott should do the right thing & stay away! He might even try to show the slightest inkling of respect by keeping his foul mouth firmly shut.
