    In the 11 months to Feb 2017 Hazelwood produced 8509 Gwh.

    So running more than 9000 Gwh over a year during a period where a $400 million upgrade was needed to get the station up to scratch. That's impressive.

    At a claimed $650 million (estimated at time of announcement) to generate 1000Gwh with wind gen plus a $200 million battery to manage the heartbeat shall we say the cost of replacing Hazelwood with wind power generation would be somewhere around $7 to $10 billion dollars up front?

    There is some big coin hanging there for players in this game.
    I can see the incentive to save the planet here ... $$$$.

    I do think folk should declare any financial interests or dependency they have in these projects when discussing.
