It is much easier to drop the word phosphate because there's plenty of it around. The phosphate price is more likely to come under pressure because its quite common and therefore easier to supply than potash.
But one of the most important influences on fertiliser prices is the price of natural gas. This is because the Haber-Bosch process ( which is used to make ammonia) relies overwhelmingly on natural gas. As the price of oil and gas are linked as the price of oil rises so will the price of gas and of fertiliser.
I agree that you have to be carefull on which shares to buy and those that have a head start are the ones to follow because for them it will be easy to raise money to develop projects. RWD and MAK are the clear leaders here.
