Yes they are. However, they are still really important and need to be managed and looked after.
Unfortunately, they have a really uncertain future because the government has no solid policy for them. It is very hard for the operators to plan ahead without no leadership from the government.
Mike Cannon Brookes offered AGL such a plan. AGL rejected it. So, the hot mess continues. At least until May 21.
Labor has a plan however they are yet to release the details. I would be very interested to see how they are going to manage the closure of coal fired power stations.
