This a scheme by subterfuge - eventually pay tv will be on NBN - guess who will win - not the average aussie battler who enjoys AFL on free to air............... its not about the number of games but quality of games on free to air.

Communications Minister Stephen Conroy says he expects to release changes to the list of sporting events reserved for free-to-air television next week.

The pay television industry wants access to dozens of events bought by free-to-air networks.

Senator Conroy says he will not reveal what is on the new list, but four AFL matches will remain on free-to-air every week.

"I'm not going to speculate on an outcome because at this stage there is no final outcome," he said.

"Cabinet hasn't considered this matter yet, but suggestions that there'll be less than four games, which is exactly what is on television today, on free-to-air television, are a nonsense."
