Wouldn't exactly say that the US "aligning itself" rather it's leaning on a scumbag, thus pressuiring him to make some headway against the sources of terror.
What, would you rather that they totally ignored him, gave him a free rein to do what he pleases, when he please...and as often as he pleases....and to do nothing at all which may retard the efforts of both his (Musharraf's) home grown and foreign terrorists?
Not an ideal situation by any stretch of the imagination, but better to have the mongrel on a leash, even if its a long one....than no leash at all.
