The Newsbreak service was set up, with GCN fanfare, as a cooperative service with Channel 10. Richard Li announced it to ASX on 7 June 2013.

It is hard now to read the announcement without a cynical laugh. It includes this condescending gem: “GoConnect is a first mover in developing free WiFi as a new media distribution platform and we are delighted that, once made aware of the opportunity and the many revenue possibilities, TEN has the foresight to quickly seize this opportunity for us to work together to create this TV media paradigm shift."

That sounded promising, though interestingly ASX  also had its own 'foresight'. It posted GCN's  flamboyant announcement without a 'price sensitive' label.

Later, on 10 Oct 2013, in its quarterly GCN cited GoTENtv as part of its new focus on revenue. And in the half yearly to 31 Dec 2013, GCN claims: "GoConnect is confident of the popularity and success of GoTenTV.com and its revenue generating ability."

So have a look now at the sorry state of

I checked in there today. The current newsbreak seems to date from 11th June. Either that, or else in Melbourne today another Indonesian businessman has been injured at Melbourne airport, another no confidence motion has been moved against Geoff Shaw, and the orang has returned for more dental surgery.

I'm being a naysayer again. Would any posters like to try their hand with a positive comment on this failed Newsbreak venture?
