    Yes, bees are also impacted - the only creature that gives a substance that never goes off and doesn't need preservatives - honey. Losing bees has dire consequences to food production and will only add to starvation issues.

    Even the report posted by @gumUnderfoot shows terrible consequences to the use of pesticides:

    The Ganges river basin is densely populated and heavily polluted by fertilizers, pesticides, and industrial and domestic effluents

    and

    Since herbicides are designed to kill plants, it makes sense that herbicide contamination of water could have devastating effects on aquatic plants.

    Thus the damage goes beyond of one's backyard and into the aquatic life. Humans literally destroying every thing that moves and would otherwise provide food. There are alternatives but not many are willing workers to stop the madness.

    Yes, one understands the problem - difficult to fight the tide - doing my bit - hope others follow.
