July 11, 2008–The spot price for uranium jumped $3.25 this week to $63.25 per pound U3O8 signalling that, indeed, the market may have seen the price bottom at $57.00. Eight transactions are reported. The price climbed steadily throughout the week with the last reported transaction concluded late in the week at today’s Spot Price Indicator. The spot price remains under upward pressure due to strong demand and sellers are seizing the opportunity to increase offer prices. Currently, nine buyers are actively seeking several million pounds U3O8 equivalent. Investors and financial entities remain the primary buyers in the marketplace, however, utility demand is starting to emerge.
