    AP>>>My Mother held my Sister and I in her arms to comfort us as night after night as we huddled in a cold dank air raid shelter,whilst the anti- air- craft guns roared into action and the terrorfying scream of bombs hurtled down on to my little patch of S/E London.The only sports I enjoyed at school was the race from the class room to the school a/r shelter.The constant reminder of the reason we carried a gas mask AT ALL TIMES was so scary.Even during the last phases of the the war we were fearful; the V1 "doodle bug" was a flying bomb which in clear weather we could at least see and hear,but the V2 was a rocket driven, large bomb, and there was no warnings just an enormous roar and massive explosion.Icould go on but I won't waste my time on you.But to finalise I wish to thank my late Parents and all those Britains who held on despite the carnage and refused to give into the terrorist Hitler, their sacrifices WILL NOT BE INVAIN.
