Role Summary/Purpose
The Lead Electromagnetics Engineer, Global Laser Enrichment is responsible for using electromagnetic theory and engineering fundamentals for modeling, designing, building, and testing devices both to improve the performance of existing systems and support the development of advanced systems.
Essential Responsibilities
The Lead Electromagnetics Engineer, Global Laser Enrichment will work in close partnership with laser engineers, technologists from other disciplines and the Global Laser Enrichment staff and contribute to commercializing GLE's unique and industry-transforming technology.
In addition, you will:
· Play a key role in the introduction of novel laser-based isotopic separation technology into the uranium enrichment market using state-of-the-art tools, facilities, and technology
· Plan assigned projects, including schedule and cost; lead project execution, and report progress against plan
· Use existing physics models, identify improvement opportunities, and implement upgrades
· Design and build complex electro-optical and other systems exceeding world class performance standards
· Develop new models as required to support performance improvements
· Collaborate within a technically diverse team and contribute towards the design of the GLE commercial-scale facility and rigorous, quantitative assessments of its performance
· Obtain and maintain up-to-date expertise in the physics and engineering fields essential to assigned portions of the GLE technology
Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Desired Characteristics
· Active DOE / NRC Q clearance, DoD Top Secret, or in-scope SSBI
· Master's Degree or Ph.D. in related field
· Effortless familiarity with fundamental concepts of classical electrodynamics
· Proficiency in MATLAB and/or COMSOL
· Experience with microwave systems such as sources, waveguides, spectrum analyzers, and power meters
· Demonstrated ability to work in technology areas with limited precedent
· Consistent success collaborating in diverse teams, constructively challenging others, embracing role as lifelong teacher and learner
· Experience building elegant systems readily and easily adopted by peers
· Generates new and unique ideas; makes fresh connections; an original thinker

Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related field
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in quantitative analysis of two or more of the following:
· First principles electromagnetic propagation or confined radio frequency (RF) propagation
· First principles nonlinear optics
· First principles electro-optics
· Optical system design
· Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience designing, building, and testing hardware systems in a laboratory or industrial environment ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability and willingness to be able to obtain and hold a US security clearance (NRC Q)
