It was under John Howard's watch that the Stockbrokers and Banks with the likes of Opes Prime, Storm Fin.etc.etc. pushed the Stockmarket to very high levels and this conned many of us into a false sense of security. Kevin Rudd has a lot of work to do to restore any confidence to the Stockmarket. Assistance for Mining exploration is needed, because Metals will be in demand again and Australia needs to be careful with the way we let many Companies,slip into doing no exploration.
