Police have ramped up patrols at Coffs Harbour on the New South Wales Mid North Coast following three violent assaults in seven days.
In the latest attack, on Wednesday, a 45-year-old woman was assaulted and lay unconscious on a popular walking track for several hours.
Her attacker has not been found.
The assault follows the stabbing murder of 21-year-old surfer Kye Schaefer and a violent robbery last Thursday.
A man has been arrested in relation to the robbery, but there have been no arrests over the murder.
