I hear there's a great 13.5 hectare greenhouse facility in Mildura perfect for growing tomatoes...
Sarcasm aside, can anyone give me some insight or thoughts on why the BOD thought Mildura was a "perfect place" to grow cannabis? Was it simply because they have a lot of sunlight hours!
From experience, I could not have thought of a worse place to locate a greenhouse. I can think of at least four key reasons why that's the case:
• Employment issues: Difficulty in attracting talented employees or workforce to rural towns or regions.
• High transport costs: Mildura is 400-540 km to the nearest capital city / international airport resulting in ongoing costs associated with delivery or acquisition of supplies.
• High Energy costs: Mildura is prone to climate extremes, eg. Summers up to 50°C / Winters down to -5°C which equates to high energy costs.
• High OPEX Mildura prone to massive dust storms which can destroy operational equipment, eg air conditioners, filters, etc:
