Kevin, Oli and team have been playing the "global player card" for quite some time now (as you have detailed) and they always appeared to me to be putting themselves in the spotlight so the world could see what they were capable of, as compared to all the other aspirants of mine resurrection who have not done quite so well
And lets face it - it has worked brilliantly. Because they "shone" in the tungsten space, the deals came to them rather than them seeking them out.
The best part about that is when the deal comes to them, it will be because someone needs their help and this puts them in a favourable bargaining position - in this case it was Oaktree who needed help and they were able to negotiate a great deal.
And the Qld Govt came to them on the Wolfram Camp deal as well
As far as a "heads up" goes, there was mention in at least a couple of presentations some time ago (before the Spain deal) of potential acquistive growth so way back then they were thinking about it
I think we should be thankful that they didnt need to get shareholder approval - 1) the process would have been both time consuming and costly and 2) Oaktree would simply not have wanted it done this way
