The methoxyflurane feasibility study has got almost enough patient data to call it done. In their recent newsletter to Hasting Quinte paramedics participating in the study, RPPEO researchers let them know that another study is planned in the region:

"The next study will train about 700 paramedics (ACPs and PCPs) from different services to use methoxyflurane. The 8 paramedic services that have agreed to participate are Hastings Quinte, Frontenac, Leeds Grenville, Lennox & Addington, Cornwall, Lanark, Prescott Russell and Renfrew. Once we secure funding, we will randomize the services into clusters. The study will begin with all services capturing data on patients who meet the inclusion criteria and then we will introduce methoxyflurane into the services one at a time in a step design over an 9-month period."

The research team hopes to begin the next study in the New Year 2022.
