Abu – some of yesterday’s tactics are probably designed to make us feel that way. At different times I was were you’re at with Conti. The more I looked the more new things I found that didn’t make sense or even worse made sense, but for all the wrong reasons.
Reading Barry Sergeant’s “Brett Kebble the Inside Story” over the New Year didn’t exactly improve my mindset. (btw – its worth reading).
Having said that, some of the recent announcements actually give me hope that the new Directors may make a difference. If they don’t we might be in serious trouble. I know hope is not a strategy but I actually believe/hope that the delays in getting the SIOC-cdt and ABSA deals done are also about accountability and governance for the long term.
As DT said yesterday “As a Company we have recognised the need to enhance and strengthen our Board”. They should also recognise that some should go as part of that process.
Unlike many other investors I also took a lot of heart from the “Chelmsford please explain” as it showed that certain practices are open to scrutiny and consequences.
Time will tell and hopefully we can soon draw a line in the sand and the company can stop the little games that we saw yesterday. Forthcoming financials might make for interesting reading.
I also tend to agree with Hairy & 5h that CCC will probably stay as an investment company and until that changes we have to exercise a lot of caution.
