The project was acquired from Itafos, a phosphate-focused company headquartered in Canada. Itafos had limited interest in developing the niobium/rare earth side of the business.

As a result:Only shallow drilling had been undertaken—limited to ~100 m depth, and only across ~10% of the total project area. Itafos’s strategic priorities were elsewhere, making further investment in this asset unlikely despite strong underlying geology.

SGQ now has multiple rigs drilling one of the world’s most substantial rare earth deposits. As always, do your own research. My source was ChatGPT.
