    SA  is extending Sanjeev Gupta a $10m concessional loan to put a big battery on his solar plant.

    I am convinced the best and highest use of batteries is on wind and run-of-river hydro.  The value-add is considerably more, exchanging near-nil midnight generation for peak pricing times.  Solar output (very, very roughly) corresponds to daytime demand.
