Prophecy works when it is shoehorned into history and events that have already past.
That way it can be retro-fitted into wars, earthquakes and the formation of the United Nations, etc, with certainty.

Waffle, the accurate fulfillment of Bible prophecy, was for me at the time I began studying with JW's, the most convincing reason for accepting that the Bible was from God. If you are really intent on rescuing me as you claim, why not begin by explaining how in 1942, in the midst of World War II, Nathan H. Knorr delivered the thrilling discourse “Peace—Can It Last?” In it, he identified the “scarlet-colored wild beast” of Revelation 17 and indicated that there would still be much preaching to do after the war.
(Revelation 17:8) The wild beast that you saw was, but is not, and yet is about to ascend out of the abyss, and it is to go off into destruction. And the inhabitants of the earth—those whose names have not been written in the scroll of life from the founding of the world—will be amazed when they see how the wild beast was, but is not, and yet will be present.
The League of Nations no longer existed and yet reemerged as the United Nations just 3 years after the prophecy was explained to be in the process of occurring.

MrGordon, firstly you don't need rescuing. The Jehovah Witness have many, many fine qualities. The only caveat I place on you is that we each are responsible for the state of our own spirituality and when your belief comes in the mail from the US I think that's worth questioning. The Jehovah Witness have several questionable teachings that do not align with Biblical, or logical reasoning, so to swallow a religion whole without question means you accept the unacceptable for no good reason other than the need to belong.

The fact that parts of your religions belief system runs contrary to all schools of science is worth questioning also. And certainty when it comes to religion is the seed of disaster. No human has the capacity to be absolutely certain that they understand scripture or the mind of God. At best it's an unfolding process of insight and personal growth. You may have grown as a Jehovah Witness but its fundamental teachings will only let you grow so far.

Regarding Biblical prophecy, there are two kinds. The first is real and genuine and there are many examples of this that are hard to dismiss. They tend to be real world events connected to spiritual outcomes, so they are not clear without accepting their spiritual component.

The second kind are those that are made to fit a religions personal prejudice. It is no skill at all to read Revelation and slot its dense symbolism into any one of thousands of major world events.

Revelation is the mother of all disasters for Christianity because it enables every jumped up preacher to make all sorts of claims of prophecy. Nobody understands Revelation, neither the Jehovah Witness, nor the pope in Rome. The prophecy you sight is completely wrong and has nothing to do with the UN or League of Nations.

So even though Brother Nathan H. Knorr, your religions third president gave a thrilling speech during the war, when he tried to interpret the prophecy of Revelation he forgot he was only human and had no ability to interpret such a complex work which he clearly demonstated.
