@ppm56 — I appreciate your attempt to be respectful and sincere, and I’ll do the same. But let me be clear and direct in love—this isn’t about which church reads more verses or has more structure. It’s about one thing:
do your beliefs and practices line up with the Word of YHWH? That’s the measuring stick, not tradition, not councils, and not years of existence
You keep pointing out how the RCC reads thousands of verses a year in Mass, but that means little if the church as a whole
ignores or twists many of the verses it reads. It’s not about how much Scripture you hear—it’s about whether you live by it and align your doctrine with it.
You asked if I truly believe the RCC doesn’t follow Scripture. Let’s be real—
yes, I do believe that. And not because I’m “anti-Catholic,” but because I’ve examined the RCC’s teachings against the Bible and found
many of them contradict it.
Let’s revisit the example you keep brushing off:
The Ten Commandments.Compare
Exodus 20 with the
Catholic Catechism and you'll see:
- The second commandment about graven images has been removed (why? Because of idol worship in the RCC).
- The fourth commandment has been rewritten, changing the Sabbath from the seventh day to Sunday.
- The tenth commandment was split into two to make up for removing the second.
That’s rewriting God’s law.
No tradition, no pope, no council has that authority. YHWH wrote those commands with His own finger. (Exodus 31:18)
Now, you also keep repeating that trusting our own understanding leads to error. I agree
if someone ignores the Spirit or doesn’t study. But that’s not me. I don’t rely on my emotions—I rely on
what is written, comparing Scripture with Scripture, praying for wisdom, and testing all teachings.
You mentioned:
“Bible alone is no guarantee…”
That’s where we disagree. The Word of God says the following:
2 Timothy 3:16–17 (TLV):“All Scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for restoration, and for training in righteousness, so that the person belonging to God may be capable—fully equipped for every good deed.”
That doesn’t say “Scripture + tradition.” It says
Scripture alone is enough to make one fully equipped.
The Catholic Church claims tradition is equal to Scripture (Catechism §82), but Yeshua warned against this:
Mark 7:7-8 (TLV):“And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. Having left behind the commandment of God, you hold on to the tradition of men.”
That’s exactly what has happened.
A Quick Word on the SabbathYou said the apostles met on the “Lord’s Day” to justify Sunday worship.
Let’s examine that.
Acts 20:7 (TLV):“Now on the first day of the week, we gathered to break bread.”
This is
one descriptive verse, not a command. It says nothing about changing the Sabbath. In fact, the same apostles continued honoring the Sabbath throughout the New Testament:
Luke 4:16 — “Yeshua went to the synagogue on the Sabbath, as was His custom.”
Acts 13:14, 42-44 — Paul preaches in the synagogue on the Sabbath, and the Gentiles ask him to preach again
the next Sabbath, not the next day (Sunday).
Acts 17:2 — “As was his custom, Paul went in to them, and for three Shabbatot he reasoned with them from the Scriptures.”
Nowhere does the Bible say, “The Sabbath has now changed to Sunday.”
Even
in the kingdom to come, the Sabbath is still active:
Isaiah 66:22-23:“‘For just as the new heavens and the new earth... from one Sabbath to another, all flesh will come to bow down before Me,’ says Adonai.”
If YHWH still honors the Sabbath in the New Earth, who gave the RCC the right to change it?
So yes, I stand firm. I follow Yeshua, not Rome. The Bible is my final authority—not the voice of men, not councils, not traditions. And if we differ, let the Scriptures decide—not emotion, not popularity, not history books.
I don’t doubt your sincerity, but sincerity doesn’t equal truth. I sincerely hope you will start testing
everything you believe against the
Word of YHWH—because only that will stand in the judgment.
