Lourdes announces 72nd miracle: Italian pilgrim cured of degenerative disease
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes in France on Wednesday announced the recognition of the 72nd miracle at the Catholic pilgrimage site, one involving an Italian woman who was cured of a rare neuromuscular condition more than 15 years ago.
Following a pilgrimage to the Grotto of Lourdes, which took place in the summer of 2009, after bathing in the pools, on her return to her home, Mrs. Raco began to move independently and the effects of the unfortunate disease immediately and definitively disappeared.
After a long period of careful investigations, the International Medical Committee of Lourdes (CMIL), in turn, declared the medically unexplained nature of the scientific knowledge of the lady's healing, as communicated by the Bishop of Tarbes and Lourdes, H. E. Msgr. Jean-Marc Micas, to H. E. Msgr. Vincenzo Carmine Orofino, Bishop of Tursi-Lagonegro.
