the contributing factors to why these kids are out after dark, just as we were back in the 60's, need examination. and recognition of the roots of the problem behaviours.
but these are children (10 yrs old and above) - they aren't adults. yet they're treated the same as adults including solitary confinement.
really this is a problem created by the "Tough on Crime" mob. adults too learn to hate the community and the legal system, learn how to be better criminals, in the bin.
they aren't changed for the better inside y'know.
different methods and means of management need to be developed. the current system only makes matters worse. its primitive and doesn't recognise causation of the effect of imprisonment.
