This statement in the blog rubbed me up the wrong way too, but it's not about whether NTA is released monthly or weekly, it's about wanting to put people in a positive mindset post-IPO.
Most LIC IPOs tank for a bit as it takes time to become fully invested and your NTA is a few % below the listing price from day one, due to the IPO costs.
It makes perfect sense of BHD to issue an early statement to show they've hit the ground running and are already making money. MEC did the same thing and copped no flack. If BHD *hadn't* made an announcement people would complain about lack of transparency and also the SP would probably fall below the IPO price in the first month.
Stuart once said something on these forums that you get much more flack for doing well than just hugging an index. And maybe that's as it should be -- scepticism and questioning things are very important, and I keep doing it myself with respect to HML. BUT there's no point unless you are fair and rigorous about it.
