So, even though Gates is putting " his money where his mouth is ", apparently that's not good enough for you ?
I'm sure Gates won't run out of money anytime soon despite his philanthropic efforts. That said, how much do you suggest he should put in ?
Of course it is not just Gates's money that is important. It is his influence. It is his connections. It is his networking skills that are just as important as his money. That's another reason why these people fly around the world. They are using their considerable influence to inform and guide those that make policy for the rest of us.
Would you rather Gates pledge everything and go live in a cave ?
It is because of people like Gates, Bezos, Forrest, Cannon Brookes etc that we are making advances in these technologies. Off their own bat. No one is asking them to do it. They could be sitting at home looking out the window counting their money. They could be endlessly touring the world on giant yachts competing with their wealthy mates. Instead, they are working hard, investing in science, encouraging and financing smart young scientists trying to make the world a better place. And yet you are criticising them ???
