I thought about it again. I don't think that can happen.
Instead, I think the China consortium of steel, mining and resources SOEs will sign up contracts for long term supply offtake as was Cameroon's plan when the MoU was signed last year.
Legally, the multiple arbitrations should render acqusition of the mines unworkable and I doubt China SOEs would take the financial risks or be directly drawn into the dispute as a party, effectively (China government entities) may also get sued. That would be a PR disaster for silk road and a scandal inviting China bashing globally and severe reputational damage to BRI already a magnet of political attacks.
Would I spend millions of dollars buying a plot of land that is the subject of a legal dispute and then spend millions more to build a house on it. Not knowing who will be granted the legal rights years later. I wouldn't. LOL
