Finnair just advised no profit for next quarter and Lufthansa doing "OK" but last month lowered their forcast for 2011 saying they no longer expected to improve on last year's operating profit "as economic uncertainties stack up."
These are among the best performing airlines in Europe - Qantas is just trying to survive, not rape and pillage. It's sad to see unions involved in brand destruction. Ansett is an example for them - replaced by Virgin who fly many more flights with much fewer staff.
