Are things really that bad in all areas of Qantas that the Unions have to strike and threaten to shut down the airline over Xmas? Really? Is the pay and conditions really that bad? NO!
What an absolute joke. No doubt everyone watched aviation expert Geoffrey Thomas on Channel 7 Sunrise this morning - Qantas workers by far the best paid in Australia aviation, and rate very highly compared to the rest of the world. Like has been mentioned, he is seriously warning that Qantas is heading toward being the next Ansett!!
Unions are supposed to exist to protect the vulnerable/the disadvantaged and stop blatantly unfair acts by employers. They are not there to be be opportunistic/controlling pigs. Unfortunately they need to justify the massive fees they charge they're members!!!!
