By the same token, it doesn't absolve others from their own responsibilities. As the owners of NMS, we are entitled to receive full and frank communication from management. We employ them. It is not appropriate for them to mislead us, even if they believe it to be for the company's long term interests.

Spin is of dubious value at the best of times, but it is wholly inappropriate for management to manipulate shareholder sentiment, and it may well turn out that spin is too generous a term for what has occurred here.
