At the end of the day, Venus and Rox did the deal before anyone had hit anything meaningful in that area. They were buying a few tailings known to hold some ore and an old plant. Not knowing whether there was anything higher grade in the ground that new methods would pick up, it was a decent deal. Venus have the ground and Rox will pay millions to explore and drill it.
If this had all transpired after the new Penny West strike I'm sure the deal wouldn't have happened. But it didn't.
It's easy to look back with hindsight and say 'that was a bad deal.'
At the end of the day, Venus and Rox did the deal before anyone...
