Nuclear energy is very interesting. If one can get past the miliary connections (somewhat problematic!) we are left with the disposal issue. It is remarkable that after all these years someone hasn't solved this issue. The cynic might suggest it is a plot by the oil companies or the USA to protect entrenched interests.
France is largely nuclear powered and have now solved the dosposal issue by mandating that all material must be disposed off on (or under) French soil.....not sure this includes Tahiti! The Fins have also just commissed a new plant and have committed to domestic disposal.
So it seems there are solutions and it is a very clean energy source. with the current oil price it may now also be an economic alternative.
Interesting that nuclear energy issue has the Greenies and the oil companies on the same side....a bit of a worry!
