If you were a cashed up predator....the recent collapse in junior resources share prices is an ideal time to lob an offer on the table.

I have no idea what really happened, but AZZ must have been in a range of discussions to sell at least southern star, and maybe the whole lot. They would be silly not to be doing so, given the Macquarie debt needs to be paid off, convertible notes are coming up, etc...

Whether James' buying when he did is good form really depends on the timing of the offer and the background to it.
