IMO, more to the point, don't gamble on games of pure chance that lack any element of skill. Also be wary of any form of gambling in which the individual operator takes a cut before distributing payouts. In both cases the operator MUST win and as a consequence the gamblers, as a cohort MUST lose.

In any instance of the above where skill 'may' be a part, that 'skill' must be enough (over time) to overcome the operator's cut.

The above really says DON'T gamble, unless it is for pure entertainment.

However, the stock market doesn't fit the above criteria. It is a growth market over time, where skill, luck, or a combination of both produces a scenario of winners profiting over losers, with skill or lack of it, certainly a contributor in that equation.
