3D printing/bio printing while it has only been around for 10-15 years there have been some considerable break throughs and it also currently serves some great real life purposes in the cosmetic world.
You'll find in many articles like this one that organ/tissue/cells printing is a promising concept. There is no doubt we will see some huge break throughs that will eventually be used in life saving treatments in human patients in the future.
Obviously years of regulatory testing will be needed once a company can finally break through and as it is still only in concept phase it is hard for anyone to put a timeline on it, but as medicine and technology improves it could very much become a reality in 5, 10, 20 years time.
