That would be due to the fact that a large number have been indoctrinated into a cult like mentality and support what ever they are told to support without doing DD for themselves. So large numbers actually aren't mentally equipped to be able to contest arguments in an intellectual manner and resort to the nastiness that has become so prevalent in society these days.
