    I have articles nearly 20 years old, from former administrators of GAZA, who admitted it was Israeli policy to fund Hamas as a counterweight to PLO's Fatah.

    That was always the objective: when Palestinian were fighting each other, they couldn't form a united front to negotiate with Israel on a two state solution.

    The prime minister also said that, “whoever is against a Palestinian state should be for” transferring the funds to Gaza, because maintaining a separation between the PA in the West Bank and Hamas in Gaza helps prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state.
