I experienced it first hand in Syd and Melb for many years. It is very hard given the historical roots of the ruling party and the religious vilification against the mainstream Judeo-Christian religions to comprehend AUstralia but if you review the Bendigo riots and the history of Melbourne, it’s easy to see why.
