If the vaccines provided 100% protection against the pathogen, I could understand a move as authoritarian as a vaccine mandate, but it doesn't.

I'm also not sure what you mean by responsibility to others. Which others are you referring to? And upon whom is the onus of responsibility? A fully vaccinated individual can infect and kill a whole building of the vulnerable and/or venerable, why is it necessary to strip the freedom of choice from millions of unvaccinated Australians when the penalty for contravening restrictions even by the vaccinated is a simple monetary fine?

I agree and applying simple common sense appears to be the problem in a world saturated with a wide range of conflicting information.

It's easy enough to find cases that contradict the advice of authorities such as the man at Byron Bay then say the process should be scrapped.

I respect our government advice given our case load is lower than most places.

A monetary fine should be the starting point but recalcitrant cases could be detained for the protection of the wider community.
