The PBT2 deal is depending longer than at least I ever thought, now over 6 months after the Queensland agreement. The purpose and the goal of the antibiotic-resistant fund have practically achieved by PBT2. It looks like PBT2 helps more than 2-4 old antibiotics to kill again the earlier resistant bacteria.
This may be a problem and the reason for this delay, no need for the whole organization, at least for some 10 years. The 1 billion dollars the fund has needs to give to ATH to get PBT2 to the market for this purpose and save 700.000 lives. With PBT2 there will be many more than 2-4 drugs against antibiotic-resistant bacteria, but nothing happens without PBT2.
However, it is obvious that the newly founded organization will not give all its money to ATH and it wants not to stop working even the goal has been achieved. PBT2 is a disruptive drug and perhaps so disruptive that the deal cannot be made with this fund. At least a disruptive and not traditional deal needs to be invented.
