When you are saying that you can't see the impact on car sales you are missing a lot of things.
There are places where the statistics are very visible. Norway are slightly ahead of the pack here but others are starting to catch up. France went from 2.5 in 2019 to 7.5% now and accelerating https://www.euractiv.com/section/electric-cars/news/electric-vehicles-sales-in-france-tripled-in-past-two-years/. Germany.

A lot of countries are looking ar using sticks with on top of their carrots and looking to ban ICE sales in a not to distant future - Some in 2030 other somewhat later. The car manufacturers are seeing the writing on the wall as well. i am not surprised that a news source called oilprice.com and the tagline "the no 1 source for oil and energy news" is trying to find the positive straws to grasp here for the oil industry but things are changing and changing fast. So even if it might still might be to much of a hassle for some 18% in of first time EV buyers in California historically that won't last very long.

Since Australia is far behind on the EV and clean energy it seems that many miss how big deal this is elsewhere and what is happening in other parts of the world. So while it is easy to miss where the world is heading but that doesn't change the fact that it is going there.
