I have no doubt that he does.
I would be surprised if his diligent approach and extensive effort to document what TNR is doing, didn't go combined with the patience to just not worry and see what happens.
In the end, we're not even a year into the Madagascar project yet. Look how much has been achieved. It's easy to forget about the magnitude of the progress when we focus too closely on the next bit of news we're waiting for.
