I think this bit is correct "As a Senate committee prepares to scrutinise the sector as part of a broader look at non-bank lenders, the Financial Rights Legal Centre has argued the cost of the service is being passed on by retailers to all customers.".

I had been thinking about this recently. For some retailers, a 4% reduction on 20% of their sales would be too much to handle and thus - they'd raise the prices. I absolutely think that will happen.

A similar thing happened with Uber Eats - The Cost to the premises is even more than the 4% afterpay retailers pay, but the price for Uber eats must be the same as the instore product. So many places raised their prices.

I don't necessarily think this is a bad thing. Just that it's an obvious consequence of services such as afterpay becoming so successful.
