We're writing to inform you of significant changes to ASX market opening and closing procedures that will affect your trading from Monday, June 23, 2025.
What's changing:
Currently, stocks open in staggered groups between 9:59:45am and 10:09:15am, with markets close at 4:00pm, followed by the pre-close period and then the Closing Auction, which occurs sometime between 4:00:00pm and 4:11:00pm.
From Monday June 23 there will be one single randomised open which will take place between 9:59:00am and 9:59:15am, with continuous trading commencing between 9:59:45am and 10:00am.
Opening Auction Changes: To participate in the Opening Single Price Auction or to cancel/amend orders before it occurs, you'll need to submit your instructions to IG before 9:59:00am. Conditional orders triggered during the opening process will be submitted to market after 10:00:00am.
New Post Close Trading: This additional continuous trading period will begin at the conclusion of the Closing Single Price Auction (CSPA) at 4:11:00pm and end at 4:21:30pm, where only trading at the CSPA price is allowed.
